Our company was founded in 1973 by John W Aitken Senior as Aitken Bros Drilling. After 12 successful years’ operating as a sub-contractor, John identified a space in the market for a new, multipurpose site investigation company and the company evolved into Aitken Laboratories.
Since then, the business has grown and developed, earning a reputation for professional sampling, investigation and analysis services in the construction industry across Scotland and the Northeast of England. Our laboratory has been UKAS accredited since 1996 and operates to the highest standards for complete customer confidence.
In 2024, our company became part of the Built Environment division of Celnor Group, a UK-wide platform for testing, inspection, certification and compliance (TICC).
Our experienced team of experts have been providing an excellent service for companies involved in road, infrastructure and building construction for over 50 years. We specialise in geotechnical, mineral, and environmental investigations, including cable and hydraulic percussion boring, rotary drilling, window sampling, trial pitting and on-site testing.
